The journey is about to begin! You will land at Entebbe International Airport. After a 15 minute drive you arrive at our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Drive to Sipi falls: This morning after your breakfast, you will embark on a journey to the Eastern part of this beautiful country. You will have a stopover in Jinja where you will take a boat trip to the source of river Nile –  where the world’s longest river Nile starts its journey. Have lunch and then continue to sipi falls for overnight.

Prepare yourself for a beautiful day full of fun. After breakfast, you can opt to go on a 3-hour soft adventure or – for the real adventurers, a 6-hour walk through the village; to view the spectacular Sipi falls – a series of three prominent waterfalls, with the longest dropping about 100m. A local guide will accompany you on your hike. This afternoon is relaxation at your lodge or go for farm to cup coffee tour or for adventure lovers looking for adrenaline rush go abseiling/rappelling from Top of Sipi falls at extra cost per person.

After breakfast, you will drive to Moroto, home to the pastoral herders of Uganda called the Karamajong people. Passing by Pian Upe game reserve, you will get to see some wildlife as you enjoy the lovely savannah and people from part of the country. Accommodation at your hotel in Moroto.

Go out on a village tour, learn ancient traditions that have been passed into generations, visit kraals, experience local cultural Karamajong dances, their communal homestead locally known as “Manyattas’. Learn how to sing and dance, learn how to make beads, and how to play traditional board games or simply listen to their stories. Enjoy traditional music, dance and drama. This afternoon, opt to get on a bicycle tour, follow small paths in the community and learn about nomadic culture as you connect with indigenous Karamajong people. Enjoy views of this vast wilderness or simply relax at your lodge.

Drive to Kidepo Valley national park. This remote park is a truly special part of Uganda – unique landscapes, and unique wildlife.. On arrival you will you’ll transfer to your lodge. Driving time: 6-7 hours.

In Kidepo you will experience true African wilderness and Big game like elephants, buffalo, giraffe, Zebra, elands, lion, cheetah, ostrich’s and antelopes. 86 mammals and 475 bird species have been recorded in this park. This region is one of Uganda’s remote, truly wild you will explore without crowds.

After an early morning breakfast, catch up with the African sun rise go for morning  game drive; enjoy sightings of herds of Elephants, Cape buffaloes, Giraffes, Lions and plenty more lunch at place of accommodation. In the afternoon we are joined by an expert ranger guide who will guide you on a nature walk to explore the park on foot away from  safari car sharing his knowledge of the Eco-system and also bring you closure to the animals.

Drive to Murchison falls National Park. The Park is named after its famous waterfall: the mighty Murchison Falls, where the powerful waters of Victoria Nile force its way through a narrow gap before plunging down 42meters with a thunderous roar. Our lodge options at Murchison falls have a swimming pool for relaxation. You will go on short safari to find more lions, giraffe, elephant, buffalo, leopard and more antelopes the following day. Approximate transfer duration: 6 -7 hours.

Today you will rise up early for morning game drive with a ranger. Keep an eye out for the elephants, leopards, lions, warthogs and giraffes as well as large herds of antelopes such as oribi, Hartebeets, Kobs and buffalo, but please note – some wild animals like leopards, lions can be elusive!. Our guides will maximize chances of these cat sightings!

Later you will depart for a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the bottom of Murchison falls. Your guide will pick you up at this point and transfer you back to the lodge.

This morning you will visit the Top-of-the falls to view these majestic waterfalls The point where River Nile is squeezed through such a tiny space (7m gap) plunging 42m deep making one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. Continue to the primate capital of Uganda, namely Kibale Forest. You will be passing via countryside, hills and roadside markets.   We drive to your lodge. Approximate drive time 6 hours. In the morning or afternoon we make a Chimpanzee Tracking. This depends on the available permits. Under the guidance of rangers you will look for one of our closest relatives, namely the chimpanzee. TIP: Instead of this normal one hour chimp viewing day program, you can now also choose to follow chimpanzees more longer – 4 hours in Kibale Forest National Park. You do this Chimpanzee Habituation Experience together with a group of researchers and a ‘habituation team’. However, this activity is subject to the availability of permits.

Before or after tracking you will also do the Bigodi Swamp Walk; Search for other primates including: I’hoestes, red colobus, blues, red tailed and gray– cheeked mangabey, bird species like the Great blue Turaco, bees’ eaters and many more. Experience how primates and birds live with the community, amazing farm life experiences; basket weaving, farm life, banana beer/gin tour. Accommodation: As per type of comfort lodging requested.

This morning, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for two nights.  Home to over half of the World’s mountain gorillas.  Interacting with these gentle giants is one of the most moving experiences that Africa has to offer and one that should not be missed.  Bwindi is also home to 90 mammal species, including a range of primates, as well as 23 Albertine Rift endemic bird species. Get ready for the next day’s gorilla trekking.

During the drive we pass  via Lake Bunyonyi and we also enjoy a magnificent view of the Virunga chain of volcanoes located in Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is possible to take a 2-4 km walk after lunch. This walk is not strenuous and takes you along a local road along the shores of Lake Bunyonyi. Then you continue walking through the hills. This is subject to change, as the walk must fit within the driving time schedule and road conditions. You must also register  with us in advance.

Today after breakfast, you will embark on your gorilla trek. You will report to the ranger station before 8 am for registration and briefing  on gorilla trek etiquette by one of the rangers.

This is the day you have probably been waiting for. In small groups of a maximum of 8 people, you will walk to see these ‘gentle giants’. Of course under the guidance of experienced rangers. Once you have found the mountain gorillas, you can enjoy them for an hour. Depending on the availability of the gorilla permits, the Gorilla Tracking is on the 13th or 14th day. Instead of the standard Gorilla Tracking, you can also choose to do the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Then you follow a mountain gorilla family that is not yet fully habituated for four hours. A group of researchers and a ‘habituation team’ will accompany you. However, this is only possible if permits are available. When participating in this activity, the standard Gorilla Tracking also expires. Chigo Tours Africa has excellent contacts in Uganda. This allows us to buy the gorilla permits for the standard Gorilla Tracking in advance. This way we can offer you a gorilla permit guarantee. If there are no more permits available, you can cancel the trip free of charge.

Accommodation at your lodge in Bwindi

Today it’s time to move on to Lake Mburo National Park. On the way we stop for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Center and then we arrive at your lodge. After checking you can opt for a night drive in this park, to experience animals at night at extra cost ( optional)

Today you start your journey to Entebbe. This will be end of your Ugandan discovery safari.
