Kibale National Park is one of the rainforests in Uganda and is famous for its primates and chimp tracking. It is home to 13 primate species making it the number one protected area with the biggest primate numbers on the African continent. These primates include Chimpanzees, Red Colobus, Black-and-white Colobus, Red-tailed Monkeys, and Grey-cheeked Mangabey among others. Dinner and overnight at Chimpundu Lodge (Full Board).

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Kasenda Crater region. This area is dotted by over 20 crater lakes. You will pass near 3 craters and have photography stops. These crater lakes were formed through volcanic eruptions but instead of forming cones as volcanoes do, they simply blew ash and rock far and wide thus leaving beautiful lakes to form.

At 2 p.m., you’ll board a boat for a cruise on the Kazinga Channel (2 hours approx.). – phenomenal safari seeing hippos, buffalos, and lots of water birds by the channel side. This boat cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing.  The park is home to over 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species.

Dinner and overnight at Buffalo Safari Lodge (Full Board).

After breakfast with your packed lunch, start your journey to Bwindi. You will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (South or North). Dinner and Overnight at 4Gorillas Lodge or Mahogany Springs Lodge (Full board).

Note: Today our Choice of accommodation will depend on the location of gorilla permits available at the time of booking.

Gorilla tracking at 8:00 a.m. in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

While this is a very challenging walk, it is surely one of the highlights of a trip to Uganda and possibly one of the all-time nature highlights of our travellers’ lives. Gorilla permits are strictly limited in order to protect these endangered species. Each group is limited to eight participants in a day.

We recommend you wear good walking boots/ shoes and carry good rain gear and enough drinking water. Trekking can be tough and challenging so we trust you are in a reasonably fit condition. You will carry a picnic lunch with you into the forest and you will be thrilled to have seen these rare primates (no guarantee). The return journey could be easier!

Dinner and Overnight: Mahogany Lodge or Four Gorillas Lodge (Full board)

After breakfast at leisure, drive back to the visitor’s centre for paperwork and head out for the nature walk to the waterfalls coming back in time for lunch. In the late afternoon, go for the village walk to see the life of the pigmies. Learn their way of life, some hunting skills, fire-making skills and their traditional medicine.
